Marilyn King's Inspirations for "Olympic Thinking"
On her interview on yesterday’s episode of Smashing the Plateau, Marilyn King discussed how Olympic Thinking can help leaders become more effective and more inspirational to others. Here, she provides a list of the men and women who have, in turn, inspired her:
1. Marceline Gillis – grandmother
Marilyn writes that her grandmother was her “earliest role model for Olympic Thinking.”
2. Her parents
Marilyn’s parents were her “role models for many positive attributes.”
3. Willis Harman – former President of Institute of Noetic Sciences (deceased)
Harman was an “internationally-respected futurist who validated my perspective, and engaged me in a 5-year global think tank on the role of business in peacebuilding.”
4. Hans Roesling (www.gapminder.org)
Marilyn writes that Roesling “organizes statistics about trends influencing peace and presents them in a new whole brain way that allows for the information to become a new story, opening new thoughts about the status of peace.”
5. Dee Hock (retired)
Hock, the founder of VISA, “had been successful from humble beginnings. He used unconventional thinking to create VISA, and he understood the efficacy of the thinking I teach.”
