Jim Canterucci’s Top 3 Mentors He’s Met Along The Way

Jim Canterucci was our most recent guest on “Smashing the Plateau.” In our chat with Jim, he talked about the finer points of leadership in 2015, and how the position has undergone a transformation. (If you missed Jim, go back and listen here.)

Jim’s idea of a new leadership normal hasn’t been cultivated strictly on his own. He’s had help shaping and refining it over the years. Here are three of those influencers.

1. Murray Mika

In my first job at 17 while I was also going full-time to college an old guy took me under his wing. He was 32 at the time. He was the VP of Finance and would do things like call me into his office and tell me about arguments he had with other executives and he would ask me what I thought. Invaluable.

2. Dennis Heebink

The founder of the small consulting firm I joined as my second job taught me about creating a championship team. The building of this company together provided valuable lessons every day.

3. Nido Qubien

In my professional speaking and the organization we have now, Nido Qubien – who is currently president of High Point University – has been a great mentor.
