The Power of Kindness

Yesterday on Smashing the Plateau, Orly Wahba taught us to embrace and spread kindness, believe in ourselves and recognize our great potential.

Here are some of her biggest influences:

1) Maestro: A Surprising Story About Leading by Listening

This book by Roger Nierenberg is a must read for anyone in a position of leadership. During my years teaching, the principal of my school made mention of this wonderful book. I ran to pick it up and it has been a book that I truly cherish. Leadership is all about listening to others and understanding that each and every person is a piece of the puzzle.

2) Think and Grow Rich

I’ve always been a BIG believer in the power of positive thinking. This book by Napoleon Hill is yet a further reminder that anything is possible so long as we believe in ourselves and never give up!

3) The Secret

Rhonda Byrne’s book has reinforced what I have always known to be true, and I make sure to read it on a yearly basis. Each and every person faces struggles and hardships. It can oftentimes be difficult to remain positive and recognize that while the road may be rough, you have the power, through your thoughts to create the life you want.

4) Orchot Tzaddikim

It discusses the importance and values of having a proper set of ethics and morals. Without a moral compass how can you possibly lead others and train them to lead in their own unique way?

5) The Garden of Emuna

I can’t begin to count the amount of times I have read this book by Rabbi Shalom Arush. This book has strengthened my faith and belief in myself, pushing me forward and seeing the good within the seemingly bad situations life may throw our way.
