The Second Half of your Career

Yesterday, on Smashing the Plateau, Katherine Hosie her story of becoming a coach for men who are suffering from a midlife crisis.

She explained we often don’t know when we’re burned out and the second half of our career is different than our first half.

Below, are some of her biggest influences:

1) Carl Rogers was a big influence on Katherine because he taught that the quality of the relationship, and our transparency and authenticity are the most important component of any helping relationships.

2) Dr Peter O’Connor, author of “Understanding the Midlife Crisis” was the first resource Katherine discovered that helped her make sense of her own midlife transition and how transformative it could be.

3) Robert Johnson, author of “We: Understanding the Psychology of Romantic Love” helped her understand the search for meaning in midlife and how misunderstanding this distorts relationships.

4) Warren Farrell, author of “Women Can’t Hear What Men Don’t Say”. Katherine thinks this is a great book for women on understanding men, and for men to understand themselves.
