The Power of Systems

Yesterday on Smashing The Plateau, Brian Casel taught us the importance of productizing your service in order to achieve freedom and scalability.

Here are some of his biggest influences:

1) Seth Godin

I like to read his stuff every day. His books have been game-changers. He’s a super brilliant marketing mind, and really just an excellent writer. I just love the way he can condense these really high-impact ideas and be so succinct about them.

2) Jason Fried

He’s the Founder of Basecamp. I’ve been a fan of his thinking and approach to building a business. I like that he thinks long-term, and that he thinks about building a business that’s here to stay and not flip.

3) Rob Walling

He’s the co-host of the Startups For The Rest of Us podcast and he’s currently the Founder of the email marketing tool, Drip. I’ve gotten to know him a bit, and he runs a conference that I attend. Following his story and the businesses that he’s been running and growing have been really inspiring and educational, but even more than that, the community that he and Mike Taber (his co-host) built up of online bootstrappers is super influential.
