Finding Your Voice And Building Your Brand

On yesterday’s episode of Smashing The Plateau, Ruth Sherman shared her expertise on public speaking. She informed us of its importance as a marketing tool and building your business and personal brand.

Below are some of her biggest influences:

1) Brad Olsen-Ecker

My husband has been a completely supportive cheerleader throughout my career. He always says yes to me.

2) Words That Work: It’s Not What You Say, It’s What People Hear

This book by Frank Lutz is a wonderful, cogent explanation of how we are influenced by the right language.

3) Beyond The Double Bind

This book by Kathleen Hall Jamieson documented how difficult it is to succeed as a woman in the male-formed business environment. This really was an eye opener for me.

4) You Just Don’t Understand

Deborah Tannen has terrific explanations about the difference between men and women’s speech communications.

5) Glenna Salsbury

She is an excellent speaker and speech coach who taught me the power of story and rhythm in speaking.
