Great Expectations

Yesterday on Smashing The Plateau, Peg Wright discussed how The Center For Great Expectations seeks to improve the lives of women and adolescents.

Here are some of her biggest influences:

1) My father, James Young

He was my mentor. He said to me, “Peg, you hire people who are better than you are. They make you look good.”

2) Gabor Maté

His book In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts: Close Encounters With Addiction affirms our treatment approach.

3) Anne Lamott

She is a very inspirational author.

4) Robert Campbell

He is a retired Vice Chairman of the Board of Directors of Johnson & Johnson. He is a mentor of mine as well as a friend.

5) Dr. Debra Ruisard

Debbie introduced me to what trauma-informed care should look like.

6) Howard Glasser

Adopting Howard’s Nurtured Heart Approach© at CGE inspires and energizes the staff each day. He is an amazing human being and I have great respect for what he’s doing.
