Scott Messer’s 5 Top Book And Mentor Picks
Yesterday you heard Scott Messer talk about “anti-selling” and how to take risks. (If you missed it, go back and check it out here.)
We hear a lot that the most successful people find help along the way. That’s why we asked Scott to give us his biggest sources of inspiration, drawing from books and thought leaders in the industry. Here are his picks:
1) The Outcome by David Douglass Light
I co-authored The Outcome with David hoping to bring the core of the selling principles I use at Sales Evolution every day to business leaders, but through a story that’s captivating and fun.
2) Fire Your Sales Team Today by Mike Lieberman & Eric Keiles
I love Fire Your Sales Team because it preaches a core piece of business wisdom: being an effective salesperson is beside the point if you don’t know why your customer needs you.
3) Good To Great by Jim Collins
Jim Collins does some unparalleled business research, and in Good To Great he showcases how corporate cultures play a huge role in keeping employees doing their best.
4) Dan Sullivan, Strategic Coach
I find inspiration in Dan and his program at Strategic Coach because they flip businesses inside out to get them thinking about why they do what they do, and motivate them to do better.
5) Marshall Goldsmith
Marshall has authored or edited 34 books, and two of his own have become New York Times bestsellers. His ideas about feedback, management strategies, and facilitating change have all influenced how I run my own business.
